Rooted in Light

Rooted in Light honors Black women as light givers and sources of stability within their families and communities. A woman stands with her arms extended before the sun, her body continuing into roots that spread through the earth. Those roots express the connections Black women nurture and the groundedness they provide, helping others find belonging and a firm place from which to grow. Deeply connected to the earth, she absorbs and redistributes light and energy to those around her. The painting celebrates her presence and the far-reaching impact of the care, strength, and connection she brings into the world.
